Heart of Delight
This little section is dedicated to my rambunctious & energetic little boy Gabriel whom has a half a heart! You can read about his journey by clicking on the link under the picture to the right. FACTS
• Most common birth defect in the USA.
• 1 in 100 kids are born a heart defect every year.
• In the last decade, deaths have decreased by nearly 30% due to advancements in research; however, the funding for CHD is still very VERY low compared to other diseases & cancers.
• 2x the amount of deaths are from CHD a year than all forms of childhood cancers combined.
• There are about 40 different kinds of heart defects. There are no cures for any of them yet.
HLHS
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome: Basically meaning the child is born without the left ventricle. Rather than having me try to explain everything, I will have some links below with great info about HLHS.
